Derek graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2018, and has an unwavering dedication to serving his community in Toronto. Growing up in Jane-Finch, Derek often volunteered at community centres and this passion to serve others continued throughout his legal career. Derek volunteered at the Community Legal Aid Services Program (CLASP) at Osgoode providing free legal services to marginalized communities and completed a disability law intensive program at ARCH Disability Law Centre where he argued wrongful dismissal cases for person’s with disabilities. Derek currently specializes in family law and real estate law (residential and commercial).

Derek currently sits on the Legal Aid Family Panel as a lawyer and accepts certificates as a case-by-case basis.

Derek is an avid esports fan, classical pianist, and travel enthusiast (mostly for food).

Lia is a dual-licensed lawyer called to the Bar in both the Philippines and Ontario, Canada. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of the Philippines College of Law in 2017 and was called to the Philippine Bar in 2019. After immigrating to Canada,
Lia completed the licensing process and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2025. She currently practices immigration and business law and serves as a director of the Filipino-Canadian Lawyers Network.

Before relocating to Canada, Lia practiced corporate and commercial law in thePhilippines, gaining experience in handling complex legal transactions and advising business owners. She continues to assist entrepreneurs and organizations with their
business law needs in Ontario.

In addition to her legal qualifications, Lia is certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) as a:

• Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM)
• Certified Information Privacy Professional /Canada (CIPP/C)

These credentials enable her to advise clients on data privacy, compliance, and risk management, particularly as businesses navigate evolving privacy regulations.
